Orchard Sprint Gloucester began as a simple idea: to connect local orchards with homes and small shops around Gloucestershire through clear, dependable fruit delivery. Our city has long been surrounded by working farms that produce crisp apples, mellow pears and small-batch juices, yet much of this produce rarely travels the short distance from grower to neighbour. We decided to shorten that journey, keeping the flavour and freshness where it belongs — in the hands of the people who live here.
Each week we gather seasonal fruit directly from partner orchards around Gloucester, Newent and the Severn Vale. The fruit is checked for ripeness and packed by hand in recyclable trays. We avoid excess wrapping, preferring to use breathable paper and light cushioning that protects soft fruit without plastic. The goal has always been minimal waste and maximum taste.
Our small delivery team operates morning and afternoon routes. These aren’t outsourced couriers but local drivers who know the streets, the timing of schools and the quiet back lanes that keep deliveries smooth. If a road is closed or weather slows the route, they’ll often text or call — not from a distant call centre but directly, person to person.
We also work with nearby growers on short-run specials: summer plums, autumn quince, and the occasional experimental orchard pressing. Customers can add notes at checkout for preferred ripeness levels or box types — firm fruit for lunches, or ready-to-eat selections for offices and care homes.
Behind the boxes, our workshop on Northgate Street serves as a small hub for washing, sorting, and preparing orders. It’s not a retail shop but visitors are welcome by appointment to see how we handle the produce. Many people are surprised by how compact our space is; efficiency and freshness take less room than you’d imagine.
Our values are straightforward: to work transparently, pay local growers fairly, and communicate clearly with our customers. We are not a franchise or large distribution chain — every box that leaves the packing bench has been prepared by someone whose name you can find on our delivery sheet.
Community matters to us. When possible, surplus produce is shared with nearby food initiatives in Gloucester that support families or schools. We believe freshness should never go to waste, and it feels right that fruit grown here continues to feed the people here.
Orchard Sprint Gloucester is still small but steady. Our long-term plan is to build more connections between orchards and homes without adding complexity or unnecessary branding. Simple fruit, packed with care, at a fair price — that’s the whole story.
